Portuguese football club Sporting Lisbon announced the signing of Costa Rican midfielder Bryan Ruiz from English club Fulham.
The Portuguese club said that the agreement with the player is valid for the next three seasons with a buy-out clause of 60 million euros. However, the club did not officially disclose the transfer price, reports Efe.
The 29-year-old confirmed on social networks his signing with Sporting Lisbon, calling this step a great opportunity to return to progress and compete for a championship. Ruiz said he was grateful for this new opportunity, pointing out that Portuguese football depends on technique, which may favour his personal playing style.
The Costa Rican captain also revealed that the Portuguese club's coach Jorge Jesus played an important role in the transfer. The international star was with Fulham for four seasons, although he was on loan in 2013-14 to PSV Eindhoven for a few months.
Ruiz is currently focusing with his national team in the CONCACAF Gold Cup which is taking place from July 7 to 26 in the United States.
