BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday urged the party MPs to play a proactive role in informing people about the Union Budget 2016-17 presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on February 29.
"Amit Shah told the MPs that they should take the budget to the people to make them participants in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'," Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu told reporters after a meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party attended by the prime minister.
"The MPs were also asked by Shah to highlight the schemes and ensure that the benefits reach the grassroot level," he added.
Another BJP parliamentarian, who also attended the meeting, said Shah assured the party MPs of their say in the implementation of the government's schemes in their areas.
"One of the good things happened in the meeting was that the MPs were assured by Amit Shah of their effective participation while implementing the budget programmes in their respective constituencies," Jagdambika Pal told IANS.
