Tottenham Hotspur beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 here to claim fourth place in the English Premier League, while leaders Manchester City cruised 4-0 over Swansea to set a new English top-flight record for consecutive wins with 15.

David Silva had a brace and Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Agüero contributed a goal each at Swansea's Liberty Stadium to maintain City's lead over second-place Man United at 11 points, reports Efe.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, bounced back from their loss to City in last weekend's Manchester derby to eke out a 1-0 home win against Bournemouth courtesy of Romelu Lukaku's first Premier League goal since November 18.

At London's iconic Wembley Stadium, Tottenham defeated Brighton 2-0 on goals by Serge Aurier and Heung-Min Son to climb to 31 points.

While Liverpool and Burnley have the same number of points, Spurs sit in fourth by virtue of a better goal difference.

The Reds had a chance to claim the fourth slot with a victory Wednesday against West Bromwich Albion, but managed only a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Arsenal, held 0-0 by West Ham United at London Stadium, slipped to seventh place with 30 points.

The Hammers, fresh off their 1-0 upset of Chelsea last weekend, turned in an impressive defensive effort yet remain in 19th place with 14 points.

Leicester City coach Claude Puel, fired at the end of last season by Southampton, enjoyed some sweet revenge on Wednesday as the Foxes trounced the Saints 4-1 on the south coast to climb to eighth place.

Everton won 1-0 away to struggling Newcastle City and now sit in the middle of the table, while the hosts are just two places above the drop zone.
