City-based Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited on Thursday reported over 52 percent rise in its consolidated profit after tax to Rs.20.54 crore in the quarter ended March 31, as compared to Rs.13.57 crore in the year-ago period.

Total income rose 7.54 percent during the quarter to Rs.818.64 crore from Rs.761.22 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The company's project finance business recorded a disbursement of Rs.1,446 crore in the quarter under review as compared to Rs.1,569 crore disbursed during the corresponding quarter last year, the company said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company's profit after tax fell by 43.83 percent to Rs.72.52 crore in 2015-16 as compared to Rs.129.11 crore in 2014-15.

"We continue to remain optimistic as we feel the government has been working on de-stressing the infrastructure sector. The company has exited the telecom tower business with good valuations. Going forward, we will unlock more such value creation opportunities," said chairman and managing director Hemant Kanoria.
