Sri Lanka on Monday said it has decided to free all 34 Indian fishermen who are in custody for violating maritime boundary laws.
Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the government had decided to release them, Xinhua news agency reported.
The move comes two days after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought a permanent solution to the issue during talks with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in New Delhi.
New Delhi said last week that Colombo holds 34 Indian fishermen and 96 Indian fishing boats.
