Fresh landslides in Udhampur and Ramban districts forced the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway for the third consecutive day on Wednesday.
A Traffic Department official said no traffic would be allowed on the highway following the landslides that occurred on Kheri road in Udhampur and at the Anokhi Fall stretch in Ramban.
"Landslide clearance at both places is in progress. Intending travellers are requested to contact our control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar to know the latest status of the highway," the official said.
The nearly 300-km long highway is the lifeline for the land-locked Kashmir Valley as all essentials, including food grains, vegetables, edible oils, medicines and petroleum products reach the valley via this road.
