Srinagar records hottest day of season

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded the hottest day of the season on Saturday as temperature touched 41.7 degrees Celsius in Jammu, officials said.

A Met official told IANS that the temperature in Jammu, the winter capital, was four degrees above normal.

"Srinagar recorded the season's highest maximum of 31.9 degrees, seven degrees above normal," the official added.

The official said although isolated thunderstorms were expected on Sunday afternoon, the heat wave condition lashing the Jammu region would continue for some time.
