Srinagar city has witnessed the lowest maximum temperature of the season so far, while the ski resort of Gulmarg was the coldest in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday at minus 9.8 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Srinagar on Wednesday was 4.2, while the minimum was recorded at minus 1.5 on Thursday, an official of the Met Department said.
Slippery roads and frozen water taps marked the morning in the city here as very few vehicles were seen on the roads. People were seen lighting small fires around the frozen faucets as they struggled to de-freeze them.
The minimum temperature was minus 8.0 in Kargil and minus 6.5 in Pahalgam.
In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 7.1, Katra 5.7, Batote 0.3, Bannihal minus 2.9, Bhaderwah minus 0.6 and Udhampur 4.5 as the minimum temperatures.
