Alleging rigging in certain booths in the ongoing Lok Sabha election, the BJP Monday urged the Election Commission (EC) to stop "silent booth capturing".

"Booth capturing has started once again, particularly in West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said after submitting a written complaint with the poll panel.

"In the two remaining phases, EC should try to stop this silent booth capturing," he said.

The complaint submitted by BJP said: "The local administration tended to deploy local civil police, home guards and the like on more sensitive duties. Not to speak of home guards etc, UP government even went in for the deployment of non-militant staff such as part-time teachers (Shiksha Mitras) on sensitive poll duties."

The BJP asked the poll panel to ensure more paramilitary forces are deployed for the remaining two phases of election besides undisrupted continuous video recording and provisioning of CCTV cameras in all booths.
