Violent storms killed two people and injured several others in southwest France, the media reported on Tuesday.

A 29-year-old woman died in Montbeton town after a tree uprooted by strong winds fell on her vehicle, Xinhua news agency reported.

Four other people were wounded, two of them in critical condition.

The second victim was a Bulgarian truck driver. He was struck by lightning in a parking lot in Charente.

The storms, which hit France's southwestern region, caused power shortage in 87,000 homes.

Torrential rains and strong winds also disrupted train networks and air traffic at Toulouse airport.
