Over 60 students stuck in two schools during shelling by Pakistan in Nowshera sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday are being rescued, officials said.

A police spokesman said 11 students stuck inside the Kadali primary school in Bhawani area of Nowshera sector have been safely brought out.

"Mobile bullet proof bunker vehicles were used by the army and police to rescue 11 students," the police spokesman said.

Shahid Iqbal, District Magistrate, Rajouri, told reporters that 50 students stuck inside Sair middle school in the same area are safe and the process is on to evacuate them to safety.

Authorities had closed 16 schools close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district indefinitely on Monday.

More schools are likely to be closed in the district due to the Pakistan Army's indiscriminate shelling and firing.
