NGO Sulabh International on Monday awarded personalities and institutions for contributing towards improving sanitation in the country and generating awareness among the people of Rural India.
National Hindi daily "Nai Dunia" was presented Rs 2.5-lakh cheque and Sulabh Sanitation Award for highlighting the issues related to sanitation, while social activist Sanjay Sukla of Betul district of Madhya Pradesh received Rs 2.5 lakh for his contribution towards sanitation awareness and motivation.
Among the awardees also featured eminent poet Sarda Saidpuri, who was presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh and Dinkar Sulabh Sahitya Samman.
Among the noted personalities attending the award ceremony were former Governor and well known scholar B.P. Singh and Chairman of the National Book Trust Baldeo Sharma, among others.
