Sun shines in Jammu, finally

Bright sunshine on Wednesday brought relief to people in Jammu city after nearly 25 days of intense fog and freezing cold.

Weather was, however, cloudy in the Kashmir Valley where generally clear sunshine and unusually higher day temperatures still continue. "Rain and snow is likely to occur in the valley during the next 24 hours", Sonam Lotus, director of Jammu and Kashmir meteorological department, said.

The minimum temperature was above the freezing point at 2.2 degrees Celsius in Srinagar.

The night temperature was minus 2.3 degrees in Pahalgam, minus 5.4 degrees in Gulmarg and minus 8.3 degrees Celsius in Leh on Wednesday.

 

According to the Met Office, the minimum temperature in Jammu was 7.8 degrees Celsius, 9.6 degrees in Katra and 2.3 in Batote. The night temperature in Banihal and Bhaderwah towns was marginally higher than the freezing point at 0.7 and 0.8 degree Celsius.
