It was a bright sunny Monday in Himachal Pradesh, with Shimla and its nearby hill destinations turning more picturesque after snowfall on Sunday.

The minimum temperature was 1.3 degrees in Shimla, which saw 18 cm of snow, the weather office told IANS.

Shimla's nearby destinations like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda also experienced snowfall on Sunday.

Snow could be seen in several areas of Shimla like the Mall Road, the Ridge, the US Club and Jakhu hills and would stay for three-four days, the weather office said.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was minus 2.4 in Manali and 1.6 degrees Celsius in Dalhousie.

Kalpa, around 250 km from here, saw 14 cm of snow, while Manali witnessed 16 mm of rain.

Hills overlooking Manali like Gulaba, Solang and Kothi experienced moderate snow. Manali town, however, remained devoid of any snowfall.

The Met department's forecast said a feeble western disturbance - storm systems originating in the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would again be active on Tuesday.
