Japanese shuttler Nozomi Okuhara beat world No. 1 Carolina Marin from Spain in the women's singles semi-final of the World Superseries Finals here on Saturday.

Okuhara defeated Carolina 21-11, 21-12 in 53 minutes. She will play China's Yihan Wang in the final at the Hamdan Sports Complex on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Okuhara, 20, said she felt especially happy after this victory as she found her game following a long break due to a knee injury.

Carolina, 22, cheered almost every point she did, while Okuhara remained self-controlled and refrained from showing too many emotions.

Carolina protested several times to the referee over distracting flashlights used by some spectators when taking pictures with their smartphones.

In the second semi-final, Shanghai-born Yihan won clearly against 20-year-old Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand.

Intanon, who in 2013 became the youngest world champion, played a defensive match and tried to confuse Yihan with sharp counter-attacks.
