External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday left on a visit to Egypt and Germany.
Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted: "Renewing a civilizational connect. Sushma Swaraj departs on her first visit to Egypt followed by Germany."
Sushma Swaraj will pay an official visit to Egypt on August 24-25 at the invitation of her Egyptian counterpart Sameh Hassan Shoukry.
She will call on President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, hold bilateral talks with her counterpart, and meet Nabil ElAraby, Secretary General of the Arab League.
Sushma Swaraj is scheduled to deliver a public address at the Diplomatic Club, Cairo, hosted by the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.
India and Egypt have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly ties.
The minister's visit to Cairo will provide a chance to review bilateral and multilateral relations and to exchange views with the Egyptian leaders on a range of issues of mutual interest, said an official statement.
