External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who has suffered kidney failure, on Thursday underwent a few medical tests required before a kidney transplant, as the hunt for a proper donor continues, said doctors.

According to doctors, Sushma Swaraj has chosen to come to AIIMS every morning to undergo the required tests and return home in the evening.

"She came this morning, underwent tests for her extreme diabetes problem along with the kidney ailment and returned home in the evening," a senior doctor told IANS.

He said that search for a donor is on and the date for transplant will be fixed once a donor is arranged for the minister.

"Donor in blood relation or through cadaver donation is being attempted. Let's see what happens," he said.

Earlier, doctors at AIIMS said that Sushma Swaraj, 64, might have to wait for at least 15-30 days before she finds a matching kidney donor.

The minister, who was admitted on Nov 7, is undergoing dialysis whenever required.

On Wednesday, Sushma Swaraj tweeted about her health condition: "I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless."

The team of top doctors for the treatment of Sushma Swaraj includes, Head of Endocrinology Nikhil Tandon, Head of Pulmonary Medicine Randeep Guleria, Chief of Cardio Thoracic and Head of Nephrology Sandeep Mahajan.

Earlier, Sushma Swaraj was admitted to AIIMS for several weeks in April this year due to chest congestion.
