A Ghaziabad woman Tuesday petitioned a local court seeking filing of a case against eight policemen who claimed to have busted a gang of cheats but later looted her house.

The woman, who is the wife of one of the suspected cheats, filed the plea before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) II in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, asking that a case of robbery, kidnapping and wrongful confinement be lodged against the policemen and her looted articles be restored to her.

She petitioned that inspector incharge of the Ghaziabad police Crime Branch Rajesh Dwivedi, Vinod Sirohi and six constables barged into her house at 6 a.m. Jan 24 and took away Rs.18,000 in cash, a gold jewellery set, two gold bangles, four fixed deposit certificates, two bank pass books and registered sale deeds of her house.

In her prayer, she mentioned that she lodged a complaint with the Kavi Nagar police station through fax and another one with the National Human Rights Commission via registered post Jan 24. However, the police did not register her complaint.

Her lawyer, Khalid Khan, said earlier the Ghaziabad police had falsely claimed to have busted a gang of cheats who, impersonating as judge, senior administrative officer or journalist, would defraud people. The police, however, could not produce any evidence to this effect.
