In a major relief to Congress, the Maharashtra legislative assembly Tuesday revoked suspension of five party legislators who had created a ruckus and also misbehaved with Governor C. V. Rao last month.
Abdul Sattar of Sillod, Jaikumar Gore of Maan, Rahu Bondre of Chikhali, Amar Kale of Arvi and Virendra Jagtap of Dhamangaon were suspended from the house Nov 12 for two years.
The legislators had been charged with creating a ruckus outside the legislature building in Mumbai, heckling the governor when he arrived to address the maiden joint session of the legislature Nov 12, and jostling him around in which Rao suffered a minor injury that day.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Girish Bapat read out the findings of an internal probe committee which recommended revoking their suspension with immediate effect, a day before the winter session of legislature ends here Wednesday.
