Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said the "Swachh Bharat Mission" could lead to good revenue models for business.

"Mission Swachh Bharat and 'Waste to Wealth' could lead to good revenue models for business as well," Modi said launching the "Make in India" campaign designed to put India prominently on the global manufacturing map.

He also referred to his vision of waste water management and solid waste management in 500 towns across India through public-private partnership.

The programme is aimed at creating a clean India by 2019 with people's participation and will be launched Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In a separate message, Modi asked people of the country to devote at least 100 hours every year towards cleanliness.

"I urge every one of you to devote at least hundred hours every year, that is two hours every week towards cleanliness. We can't let India remain unclean any longer. On Oct 2, I myself will set out with a broom and contribute towards this pious task," he said.

"Today, I appeal to everyone, particularly political and religious leadership, mayors, sarpanchs and captains of industry to plan and wholeheartedly engage in the task of cleaning your homes, work places, villages, cities and surroundings. I request your active support and participation in our collective quest to make a Swachh Bharat," he added.
