Crime comedy "Swamy Ra Ra", which was one of the few Telugu films of the recent past to enjoy a 100-day run at the box-office, will soon be remade in Tamil and Malayalam.

Tamil actor Srikanth has bought the remake rights of the film.

"I have the remake rights of the film in Tamil and Malayalam. The Tamil version will go on floors first, followed by the Malayalam version. It's a quirky film and I thought if I remade it in Tamil, it might actually work out," Srikanth told IANS.

He intends to play the lead in the Tamil version himself.

"The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. I'm on the verge of finalising the director to helm the Tamil version. As soon as I finish shooting for my current projects, I'll start working on this film," he added.

Srikanth is currently busy shooting for Tamil films "Nambiar" and "Om Shanti Om".

Directed by debutant Sudheer Varma, "Swamy Ra Ra" turned out to be one of the few sleeper hits of the year. The entire film revolves around a stolen idol of Ganesha.

Nikhil Siddhartha, Pooja Ramachandran and Swati Reddy played the lead in the film, which is currently being remade in Kannada.
