England off-spinner Graeme Swann has apologised for his "crass and thoughtless" comment after he compared the Ashes defeat in Australia to being "a*** raped".
Swann tweeted: "Sorry to anyone who was offended by my comments in the papers today. Crass and thoughtless of me in the extreme."
The English cricketer made the remarks on his brother Alec's Facebook thread hours after going 0-3 down with the defeat in Perth.
Alec Tuesday updated his profile status -- which is publicly accessible to anyone -- by saying how he had enjoyed a night out at a music concert.
Swann, 34, responded on the thread and said: "Rather have been there than being a*** raped in Perth!"
