Newly-formed political party Swaraj India on Friday promised an epidemic-free, garbage-free and pollution-free Delhi, if voted to power in the civic polls later this month.
Releasing its "Saaf Dil, Saaf Dilli" manifesto, Swaraj India President Yogendra Yadav said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were responsible for the poor state of the three civic bodies for which elections are being held.
"BJP, which has ruled MCD for the last 10 years, is directly responsible for the filth and corruption that the civic body is mired in," Yadav said, highlighting that his party was the first in the country's history to be fighting elections on environmental issues.
"We don't want to rake up the issues on who is corrupt, like other parties, including the BJP and the AAP. We are focusing only on how to make Delhi pollution-free," Yadav said.
Yadav said the party had set certain targets like improving the quality of life of the people, focus on an epidemic-free Delhi through stagnant water avoidance, reduction of air pollution, improving quality of civic amenities, solution to parking problem while taming the parking mafias, citizens' participation and community decision making.
CCTV cameras would be installed in Dhalavs, so that garbage was regularly removed and GPS would be fitted in garbage trucks for monitoring their working, he said.
Yadav said that if voted to power. his party would also run a "Two Bin One Bag" scheme for collecting trash from every household, shop, office and stall.
