Unidentified armed men shot dead a Swedish journalist in Kabul Tuesday, a spokesman with the interior ministry said.

"Unidentified armed men opened fire at a Swedish journalist in Kabul at 11.13 a.m. local time today and badly injured him. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital," interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish told Xinhua.

The journalist had worked for a Swedish television channel, he said, but did not provide more details.

This is the second attack on journalists in Afghanistan in two days.

In the previous attack, two unidentified armed assailants riding a motorbike attacked and injured a local journalist named Mukhtar Wafai in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif Monday.
