At least 38 people were killed by swine flu in Egypt since its outbreak in December 2013, the Egyptian health ministry said Sunday.
"The ministry has detected cases with 318 diagnosed as carrying the virus since Dec 1, 2013, and 38 of them died," Xinhua quoted Health Minister Maha al-Rabat as saying.
The ministry would inform twice a week about the new developments, he said.
He asked children, people above 65 years, patients suffering from respiratory diseases, diabetes and pregnant women to get themselves checked once they feel the symptoms of the ordinary flu.
The H1N1 virus has been categorized under the seasonal influenza by the World Health Organisation since 2010.
