Beirut, Oct 1 (IANS/EFE) Four children and a woman were among the eight people killed Tuesday when Syrian government aircraft dropped bombs on the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, or SOHR, said.
Government helicopters dropped barrel bombs on a district located between the neighbourhoods of al-Khadr and Sakhur in eastern Aleppo, the London-based NGO said.
At least 17 rebel fighters were killed Monday in attacks on their barracks in the town of Kafr Zita, a northern suburb in Hama province, the human rights group said.
The SOHR expects the death toll to go up as several of those injured were said to be in critical condition.
The number of documented and verified deaths in the Syrian armed conflict between March 2011 and April 2014 has reached 191,369, and nearly 9,000 of those killed were children, the UN said.
