Tagore's songs to be translated into Hindi by Gulzar

Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's famous Bengali compositions will be translated in Hindi by noted Bollywood lyricist Gulzar, it was announced Monday.

According to Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of Saregama India Ltd., Bollywood singers Shreya Ghosal and Shaan will render their voices to the Hindi interpretations, an initiative of the company.

"The translations will be done by Gulzar. In addition, we are also preparing an encyclopedia of all Tagore's songs. More than 2,000 songs by the bard will be compiled into 10 CDs," Goenka said here at the launch of a Bengali music album "Pancham Tumi Kothay".
