Taliban commander killed in Afghanistan airstrike

A Taliban commander was killed and four others were injured as government aircraft targeted militant-positions in eastern Afghanistan, the police said on Sunday.

The air raids on Taliban hideouts in Batikot district of the eastern Nangarhar province took place on Saturday night. Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Rahman was killed in the attack and four of his armed men sustained critical injuries, Xinhua news agency reported.

A large amount of arms and ammunition of the militants were destroyed in the airstrike, the official said.

However, Taliban militants were yet to comment about the airstrike.
