Tamil Nadu to hold rejuvenation camp for elephants

The annual vacation and rejuvenation camp for 43 elephants belonging to different temples, mutts and the forest department in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will begin on January 8, an official statement said.

The statement, issued here on Monday by the Tamil Nadu government, said 43 elephants -- 41 from Tamil Nadu and two from Puducherry -- will go on a 48-day-long wellness camp starting on January 8.

The camp will be held near Vana Bhadrakali Amman temple near Coimbatore, around 500 km from here.

The total cost will be around Rs.1.04 crore and would be borne by the Tamil Nadu government.

 

The elephant rejuvenation camp will conclude on February 23.
