Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors have received good news from Australia with opener Tamim Iqbal undergoing successful surgery on his injured left-knee.

According to Bangladeshi daily The Daily Star, Australian surgeon David Young, who conducted the operation, confirmed that the player would be able to return to training in two to three weeks time following his rehabilitation.

It means that the aggressive stroke-maker will be available for selection for the ICC World Cup to be held in Australia-New Zealand starting Feb 14.

The national selection panel is expected to submit the 15-player World Cup squad to the BCB within the next few days.

So far in his One Day International (ODI) career, the left-hander has scored 3,971 runs from 135 games at an average of 29.85.
