Actress Andrea Jeremiah, whose role in the latest Tamil drama "Taramani" has been well received by audiences and critics alike, says playing the part was emotionally draining and she found her character to be bolder than she anticipated.

"Going by the response from the audience, I believe my character is bolder than I thought. Although I was given the space and (allowed to) bring my own energy to the role, it was emotionally draining as the role required very raw performance from me," Andrea told IANS.

Directed by Ram, "Taramani" takes a look at society and modern-day relationships in the age of globalisation.

On working with the National Award-winning filmmaker, she said: "I enjoy working with people who respect me as an artiste and respect my time, and Ram sir did both. More than anything, I love his realistic approach to filmmaking. He is a director who engages his actors in discussions rather than giving instructions, so there is a lot of give and take on set."

Ram had told IANS that the film, which also stars Vasanth Ravi, was inspired by the world around him.
