Tata Motors, Kingfisher Airlines owe Rs 1,000 cr tax: Government

Tata Motors and Kingfisher Airlines owe over Rs 1,000 crore in taxes to the government, Parliament was informed on Friday.

"Four companies - Tata Motors, Kingfisher Airlines, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, Karnataka Housing Board - have over Rs 1,000 crore pending indirect taxes," Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar said in a written reply here.

Tata Motors has a total of Rs 1,145.85 crore indirect taxes pending in 96 cases while the defunct Kingfisher Airlines owes Rs Rs 1,012.96 crore, Gangwar said.

Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board has Rs 2,590 crore of indirect tax pending while Karnataka Housing Board has Rs 1,083 crore in one case each, he added.
