Tata Trusts to donate Rs.3 crore for cyclone-hit Andhra

Tata Trusts will donate Rs.3 crore towards Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Relief Fund for relief and rehabilitation in cyclone-hit north coastal Andhra.

Tata Trusts chairman Ratan Tata contacted Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and extended his support for relief and rehabilitation work in affected areas, said an official statement here Friday.

Tata gave the commitment that Tata Trusts will donate Rs.3 crore for the relief fund. Naidu said he was humbled by Tata's generosity and thanked him for the contribution.

Meanwhile, Amara Raja Group of Companies of ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Galla Jayadev has announced contribution of Rs.1 crore to the relief fund. The MP from Guntur also announced Rs.25 lakh from AP Local Area Development Fund and his two month salary.

 

US based Hospira Inc, which is setting up its pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam, has donated Rs.60 lakh to the CM Relief Fund. The company officials met Naidu in Visakhapatnam and handed over the cheque.

Popular Telugu actor and TDP legislator N. Balakrishna presented Rs.35 lakh cheque to the chief minister in Visakhapatnam Friday. Balakrishna is Naidu's brother-in-law and his daughter is also married to the chief minister's son. The son of TDP founder N. T. Rama Rao said he would extend all possible help to people in the affected areas.
