A case of attempt to murder was registered against a tourist taxi driver for hitting the official vehicle of Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, police said on Friday.
"We have registered a case under Section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) against Jeskalur L. Mawdoh for hitting the chief minister's vehicle," said East Khasi Hills' Superintendent of Police Mariahom Kharkrang.
He said police are interrogating the driver to find out his intention for hitting the chief minister's vehicle. Mawdoh is presently under police custody for three days.
On Thursday, Mawdoh hit the moving official vehicle of the chief minister as Sangma was proceeding to the helipad at Upper Shillong to leave for Delhi via Guwahati for attending an important meeting.
The chief minister was not injured in the accident.
