Thousands of commuters were hit after normal services on Delhi Metro' Blue Line (Dwarka 21-Noida City Centre/Vaishali) were hit for over an hour on Sunday evening due to technical glitch near a Noida metro station.
According to Delhi Metro officials, services were affected from 5.31 p.m. due to breakage of overhead electric wires near Noida Sector 15 metro station on the up line (towards Dwarka).
"To undertake immediate restoration, train services were run on single line between Noida Sector 16 and Yamuna Bank metro stations through down line and short loop services were introduced between Noida Sector 16 and Noida City Centre," a Delhi Metro official said.
"The services were restored by 6.44 p.m. and metro services are now normalised on entire Line 3 (Blue Line)," the official said.
This is the third time in the last one week that services on the Blue Line were affected.
On June 13, thousands of passengers were left stranded for nearly three hours following an electrical short circuit near Indraprastha station, while on the very next day, services were disrupted again for a short while after a passenger got down and started walking on the tracks between Noida Sector 16 and Sector 15 Stations.
