A 15-year-old girl from Bangladesh, who was lured from Dhaka on the pretext of a better life and job in India but was pushed into prostitution, was rescued from a house in Surya Vihar area here, police said Wednesday.

A 30-year-old man, identified as Safikul Islam alias Akash from West Bengal, is said to be the main accused but is yet to be arrested.

"The accused worked at a factory in Dhaka a few months ago and lured the girl to Gurgaon for a better life and job," police officer Mohammad Sharif told IANS.

The girl, brought here April 26, was kept in the house in Surya Vihar and forced into prostitution, he said.

Though the girl faced a language problem, she managed to convey a message to someone and was rescued by police Tuesday night.

The girl recorded her statement before a magistrate, and was sent to a shelter home after medical examination.

Police did not rule out the possibility of a human trafficking gang.

A case on charges of buying and selling a minor for prostitution under the Indian Penal Code and on various charges under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered.
