A teenager was killed as protesters clashed with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday when a gunfight was underway, police said.
Police sources said security forces started an operation against militants in Chandgam village of Shopian after receiving information about presence of militants there.
"After firing exchanges started between militants and the security forces, protesters pelted stones at the security forces to disrupt the operation.
"In the resulting clashes, a 17-year-old, identified as Shakeel Ahmad Mir sustained a gunshot injury. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries," a source said.
