With his wish of separate Telangana state fulfilled, a devotee has offered 11,116 coconuts to Lord Ganesh, completing the task Monday.

Chandrasekhar, an activist who participated in the movement for Telangana state, broke the coconuts at the huge Ganesh idol at Khairatabad here.

He said he had vowed to offer the coconuts and since the separate state has become a reality, he made the offering.

On his request, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao broke the first coconut when the idol was installed 11 days ago. Since then, the devotee has been offering coconuts. On the last day Monday, he broke the remaining 600 coconuts.

The idol at Kharitabad is 60-feet high, the tallest in the city. Every year, the organizers install an idol taller than previous one.

This year, a 5,000 kg 'laddu' was placed in the hands of the deity, installed as the "Kailasa Ganapati".
