The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) Wednesday called for a march to the assembly on June 14 to intensify the movement for a separate Telangana state.
At its meeting here, the JAC steering committee decided to hold the march during the second phase of the budget session of the state legislature, scheduled to begin June 10.
JAC chairman M. Kodandaram appealed to people to participate in the march to voice their demand for a separate Telangana. He said that the JAC would conduct a publicity campaign on a large scale across the region from June 1.
The JAC chairman said the march would be peaceful. He warned the government not to create hurdles in the march.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit president G. Kishan Reddy and leaders of other pro-Telangana groups attended the meet.
JAC is demanding that the centre carve out Telangana state in accordance with the announcement made by it on Dec 9, 2009.

The march to the assembly will be the third major protest by the JAC in Hyderabad in recent years. It had organised Telangana million march in 2011, during which protestors had vandalised statues of Andhra leaders on Tank Bund.
In September last year, the JAC had organised the Telangana march in which thousands had participated.
