Temperatures fall after widespread rains in Himachal

Temperatures across Himachal Pradesh fell on Monday due to widespread rains, with Shimla recording a high of 22.3 degrees Celsius, the weather office here said.

"The entire state saw moderate rains with temperatures plummeting sharply," an official at the local Meteorological Office told IANS.

He said most of the prominent tourist destinations like Shimla, Dharamsala, Palampur, Manali, Kasauli, Kufri and Narkanda witnessed rainfall, bringing down temperatures to comfortable levels.

Kalpa, a picturesque town 250 km from here, recorded the maximum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius, while Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a high of 31.7 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala in Kangra district recorded 28.6 degrees Celsius.

 

Una was the hottest in the state at 37 degrees Celsius.

The Met Department has forecast rain and thundershowers will continue in the state on Tuesday.
