Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan Monday ordered the suspension of four senior officials of Datia district in the wake of the death Sunday of at least 111 people in a stampede at the Ratangarh Mata Temple.
He told the media after visiting the stampede site in Datia district that the guilty will be punished at the earliest. "A judicial inquiry will be done ... It will be completed in two months."
The state administration suspended the four officials after taking permission in this regard from the election commission -- mandatory since the state is in the poll-mode slated to elect a new assembly Nov 25.
The replacements for district magistrate Sanket Bhondwe, superintendent of police Chandrashekhar SOlanki, sub-divisional magistrate Mahip Tejaswi and sub-divisional police officer B.N. Basawe have since been appointed, an official said.
