Separatist guerrillas Wednesday killed a soldier of the territorial army in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
"Militants today shot at Gowhar Ahmad, a soldier of the 162 battalion of the territorial army in Laram Gunjipora village of Kulgam district," a police officer told IANS.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries en route.
A police case has been registered.
It was not immediately clear whether the soldier had come home on leave or was shot while on duty.
