Terrorism is an enemy of democracy and development and it cannot exist without supporters, Afghan Ambassador to India Shaida Mohammad Abdali said.
Speaking late Friday at the 'India Ideas Conclave' in south Goa's Canacona village, Abdali said that terrorism was being used as a tool against the people of India and Afghanistan "to achieve political and other objectives".
"Terrorism certainly is affecting all of us and is an enemy of democracy and development. It is a challenge to our region," Abdali said.
"Terrorism is a major threat especially to India and Afghanistan. This is going to be affecting everyone in the region and it is high time we look at this phenomenon, which is detrimental to long-term peace and stability. We all should join hands to fight this menace," the Ambassador said.
Calling India and Afghanistan as countries with a deep connect, Abdali said that both countries should be committed to deal with the problem.
"Terrorism is our enemy and it cannot exist without supporters. There are supporters of terrorism and it's used against our people as a tool to achieve political and other objectives," the Ambassador added.
