"'The Wolverine' has garnered an astounding Rs.15 crore gross (Rs. 10.5 crore nett) in its opening weekend in the country," read an official statement.

"The opening weekend of the film also ranks as the third highest of all time for the production house's (distributor Fox Star Studios) Hollywood title after 'Avatar' and 'Life of Pi'," the statement added.

Jointly produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, Hugh Jackman, Hutch Parker and John Palermo, the film received an overwhelming response.
