Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said there was "huge disappointment" in India before the BJP-led NDA government was formed in 2014.
Modi, in an interview to CNN News18, said there was disappointment and the newspapers would be full of news stories on corruption in those days.
"Everyday, every Indian would go through negative thoughts," he said, without naming the previous UPA government.
"I tried to change it... and it does not happen with speeches, steps need to be taken," he said, adding that the situation has changed and the world, which would look at us as a "sinking ship", has started seeing India as a "bright spot".
