Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam Thursday said that of the 666 schemes announced by former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, 218 schemes have been completed and 317 are being implemented.

He was replying to a calling attention motion in the assembly on a complaint that the schemes announced by Jayalalithaa remain on paper and are not implemented.

Jayalalithaa had announced these schemes in the assembly between 2011-12 and 2014-15.

According to Panneerselvam, government orders have to be issued for 121 schemes, while eight schemes are pending with the central government and two have not been taken up for implementation as they are in the courts.

Listing out various schemes that have been implemented, Panneerselvam said work is under progress for building a satellite town in Thirumisai with 12,000 apartments at an outlay of Rs.2,160 crore.

He said plans are being drawn up for construction of 554 residential apartments here at an outlay of Rs.100 crore.

According to Panneerselvam, government orders have been issued for a housing project at an outlay of Rs.918 crore in nine districts.

He said four out of the five companies that signed an agreement with the government for investments in the state May 2012 have invested Rs.6,680 crore.

Panneerselvam said of the 12 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed November 2012 for investment of Rs.20,975 crore, a sum of Rs.6,203.85 crore has been invested by these companies.

AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa lost her chief minister's post after a court in Bangalore convicted her in a corruption case and sentenced her to four years in jail and a fine of Rs.100 crore.
