The third unit of the Yangjiang nuclear power plant in China's Guangdong province has begun operations, the media reported on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the China General Nuclear Power Corp. (CGN), the owner of the plant, the third unit is in good condition and will be officially put to commercial use after tests, the Global Times reported.
Construction of the third unit began in 2010. The first and second units of the plant were put into commercial use in March 2014 and June 2015.
The Yangjiang nuclear plant's six units will all go into commercial operation in 2019, the statement said.
The other three units are under construction.
The CGN has currently 15 nuclear power units capable of generation, with a total installed capacity of about 16 million kw, it added.
