After winning the first season of "Comicstaan", Nishant Suri says the digital comedy reality series helped him realise his potential, and he now wants to work hard to make the most of it.

"Winning 'Comicstaan' is a very big achievement, but I realise that this is just the beginning of my journey. I need to become much much better at my craft, and work hard towards achieving that," Suri told IANS in an email.

"I can't rest on my laurels, and I need to become the best that I can be. It's made me realise I'm capable of performing at the highest level, and I want to use this opportunity to make a mark," he added.

The Amazon Prime Original series "Comicstaan" featured comedians Tanmay Bhat, Kenny Sebastian, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kanan Gill, Kaneez Surka, Sapan Verma and Naveen Richard as judges.

After nine weeks of contestants learning about the many genres of comedy and proving themselves, Nishant emerged as the winner and took home the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.

"It was an incredible and life-changing journey. I'd been doing stand up for three years when I went in, and I probably learnt more in those two months than I learnt before. It was a very intense experience, and something I'm going to cherish for a long time," Suri said while talking about his experience in the show.

What's his biggest learning from the show?

"The biggest learning was to have faith in myself and my abilities. Writing new material every week, working harder than I've worked in the last 3 years, gave me a lot of confidence.

"My outlook towards my comedy and what I want to do and talk about also changed after the show. The most memorable moment was when I pulled off my act in the alternate comedy episode and got a standing ovation from the judges."

At the moment, Suri is "looking to make an hour of material".

"So that in a couple of months I can start touring. I'm just four years old in comedy, and there's a lot for me to learn and explore."
