Three dead, a dozen injured in Delhi squall

Three people, including a woman, died while over a dozen people were injured in a sudden squall that lashed the capital Friday evening, police said.

The first incident was reported from Najafgarh area in west Delhi where an 18-year-old woman died after an overhead power line fell at her when she was returning home from a nearby market around 5 p.m.

In the second incident, a 20-year-old youth died after an iron sheet slit his neck and later hit his 51-year-old mother's head, leaving her injured in serious condition in Vivek Vihar area in east Delhi.

A 24-year-old cab driver died when a tree fell on his car in I.P. Estate area of central Delhi around 5.30 p.m.

 

"Over a dozen people were reportedly injured after several trees fell on several vehicles. A few of them were injured in incidents of wall collapse," said a police officer.
