Three people were sentenced to death and five others jailed over a terror attack in a market place in China last year.
The Urumqi Intermediate People's Court sentenced Husanjan Wuxur, Yusup Umarniyaz and Yusup Ahmat to death after convicting them of organising and leading a terrorist group and endangering public security with dangerous methods near Beijing's Tian'anmen Square in October 2013, Xinhua reported.
Gulnar Tuhtiniyaz and Bujanat Abdukadir were sentenced to life in jail.
They were also awarded 20 years in prison for the crimes of participating in a terrorist group and endangering public security with dangerous methods.
Three others, Tohti Mehmat, Tursunjan Abliz and Abla Niyaz, would be jailed for between ten and five years for participating in a terrorist group, the court said.
